Case Study: Communities of Interest

Hi everyone,

Well, here's my Case Study...(I sure hope that this is the sort of thing that we were supposed to do).

I've elected to put it in html (on a website). Most of the case studies I've read as part of this exercise have been presented as websites, and the total 'ownership'
(both of the content and the medium it's presented in) appealed to me.

Just to give my case study some context - I found that there was SO much that could be explored in a case study that it was impossible to do an indepth study of everything in the word limit given. Therefore I've tried to go in deep on a couple of things, and really just make a passing reference to some of the other ideas that I would have explored if word-limits permitted. (NB: This isn't a criticism of the word limit Stew, just wanting to explain why I've done what I've done).

Also, there is some interactivity. Please do feel comfortable giving me your feedback... Not just directly on the Blog, but also through my site. Anything that comes through I will collate and publish here (no names however, so feel free to be honest!)

So finally, here it is...

Be kind :)

Hey chun neng,

No worries about the quote. If it's of use, happy for you to use it.

Hi Sammyjo, thanks for being the first case study :) Lets us know kind of where they might go / good format etc, though I will of course endeavour to be original. I agreed with your statements so far as I understood them. Certainly your case study backs up that information and socialisation are inextricably entwined in would be internet communities. Well done on 'infiltrating' the community for info, as well as a intergrating a little integration into the website format case study. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it for mine, but if there are any suggestions for others it would be to see a little more interactivity to somehow further the points made. Not an easy task I know. Thanks Sammyjo.

Thanks chun neng. Appreciate your comments :) Feeling very far away from WA (I live in Sydney) so great to hear about things that are said in lectures...

FYI re: the heated exchange between "sn" and "midtowngym". I actually emailed "midtowngym" to ask him to explain a couple of the acronyms that he'd referred to in one of his messages, and even though it was almost a week after their posts, he was still pretty pissed about it all. He made the comment.. "at least YOU appreciated my honesty....". I think it's always possible to express an opinion (even a negative one) without sounding like an a**h*le, but some people just seem to get off on being insulting...
